The van Deurs label stands for elaborate collections of hand-pleated and ridge-pleated garments and accessories. The design process starts with the love of the fabric. Adding a pleat to the tactile, high-quality fabrics gives form to the product.

Sustainability and slow fashion are also important parameters in the working process. Pleating makes the fabric sculptural and regal, and has many references in fashion history: From the Asian tradition to the European pleats and ruffles of the 16th century, it is a timeless yet very contemporary technique.

After first earning a degree in ladies tailoring, Susanne Beskow started the brand in 1992 upon graduating from the renowned Beckmans College of Design. In the year of 2006 she relaunched the brand with a stronger identity than ever, before winning the Rookie/Player of the Year Award from the Swedish Fashion Council in 2007 for the van Deurs collection; the brand name also being her family name.
